About Taber Alberta

Taber in Southern Alberta is located approximately 51 km (32 mi) east of the City of Lethbridge at the intersection of Highway 3 and Highway 36. It was earlier called Tank No. 77 and was used by the railway to fill up on water. It was in 1903 when the first Mormon settlers from the U.S. establish a hamlet at the Tank. The town came to be known as Tabor after the first post office was built in 1907. Different station heads however printed "Taber," so they changed the name to make it match the records.

This town has a successful history of coal mining. Other than that it is known for agriculture and their local produce includes hogs, beef, sheep, poultry, sugar beets, potatoes, peas, carrots, wheat, mustard, etc.
