About Lake Kagawong
Lake Kagawong situated in Ontario is the second largest lake on Manitoulin Island. It is drained by the Kagawong River, which falls over Bridal Veil Falls into Lake Huron. The water in this lake is moderately deep with vertical visibility of 5–6 meters.
There is an archipelago located in the center of the lake. There is also an unnamed and uninhabited submerged island that is part of this group. And even though the Lake Kagawong is navigable by recreational and fishing boats, there are some hazards to navigation due to this submerged island.
The main attraction of the lake is fishing, as many different species have been obtained here. In the 1900s, smallmouth bass and northern pike were caught in the lake in a great number. In the 1950s and 60s, whitefish were fished commercially on the lake. And throughout the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, yellow perch and smallmouth bass were the primary targets of anglers. Other major fishes caught here are rock bass, pumpkinseed, and catfish.
