    The area commonly known as the Piedmont Triad is located in the north central region of North Carolina. This statistical area encompasses 12 counties and the primary cities include Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point. The Triad area has large tobacco, furniture and textile businesses. Several protected areas can also be located within the Piedmont Triad.
