Also known as the York Region, the Regional Municipality of York is a regional municipality in Southern Ontario, Canada, between Lake Simcoe and Toronto. It replaced the former York County in 1971 and is part of the Greater Toronto Area and the inner ring of the Golden Horseshoe.

Vaughan is a city in Ontario, Canada which is located in the Regional Municipality of York, just north of Toronto. It has been the fastest growing municipality in Canada between 1996 and 2006, with a population growth rate of 80.2% according to Statistics Canada. It is the fifth-largest city in the Greater Toronto Area, and the 17th-largest city in Canada.

Markham is a city in the Regional Municipality of York within the Greater Toronto Area of Southern Ontario, Canada. It is Canada's 16th largest city located approximately 30 km northeast of Downtown Toronto. The city is the fourth-most populous community within the Greater Toronto Area after Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton and is York Region's most populous municipality.

Aurora is a town in central York Region in the Greater Toronto Area, within the Golden Horseshoe of Southern Ontario, Canada. It is located north of the Town of Richmond Hill and is partially situated on the Oak Ridges Moraine. The municipal population of Aurora was the 95th largest in Canada as per the Canada 2016 Census, compared to 97th for the 2006 Census. Aurora has been ranked in the top 10 wealthiest towns in Canada.

Newmarket is a town and regional seat of the Regional Municipality of York in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is part of Greater Toronto in the Golden Horseshoe region of Southern Ontario. Many Newmarket residents commute to Toronto, about 45 minutes transit time south of the town.

East Gwillimbury is a town on the East Holland River in the Regional Municipality of York. It is part of the Greater Toronto Area of southern Ontario, in Canada. It was formed by the amalgamation of the Township of East Gwillimbury with all the previously incorporated villages and hamlets within the township.
