Where is New Caledonia?
New Caledonia is a special collectivity of France that is located in the southwest Pacific Ocean. Its archipelago includes the main island of Grande Terre, the Loyalty Islands, the Chesterfield Islands, the Belep archipelago, the Isle of Pines, and a few remote islets.
The total land of New Caledonia is divided into three provinces. Both North and South Provinces are located on the New Caledonian mainland and the Loyalty Islands Province is a series of islands off the mainland. Other than that, the mainland is also divided in length by a central mountain range whose highest peaks are Mont Panié in the north and Mont Humboldt in the southeast.
Where is Vanuatu?
Vanuatu located in the South Pacific Ocean consists of about 82 relatively small, geologically newer islands of volcanic origin (65 of them inhabited). It is surrounded by water on all sides and doesn't share land borders with any other countries or nations. But you can find Vanuatu to the west of Fiji and the east of Australia.
The country is divided into six provinces whose names are derived from the initial letters of their constituent islands:
- Malampa - Malakula, Ambrym, Paama
- Penama - Pentecost, Ambae, Maewo
- Sanma - Santo, Malo
- Shefa - Shepherds group, Efate
- Tafea - Tanna, Aniwa, Futuna, Erromango, Aneityum
- Torba - Torres Islands, Banks Islands
