About Fairview Alberta

The town of Fairview in Northern Alberta is located 82 km (51 mi) southwest of the Town of Peace River and 115 km (71 mi) north of Grande Prairie. As of 2016, the total land area of the town was 11.36 km2 (4.39 sq mi) and the population density was 263.9/km2 (683.5/sq mi).

History

In the 1920s a railroad extended west from Whitelaw to Beaver Indian Reserve where the Hamlet of Fairview was established. During that time the community of Waterhole located 5 miles to the south was relocated to the railroad site. On Nov 2, 1928, the first train rolled out in the Fairview. After that Fairview was incorporated as a village and then later in 1949, the village was incorporated into the Town of Fairview.
