About Lakes Muskoka
Located between Port Carling and Gravenhurst, Lake Muskoka is surrounded by many cottages. The lake is connected to Lake Rosseau through the Indian River & lock system at Port Carling. It is mainly fed by the Muskoka River, Lake Joseph and Lake Rosseau.
The lake is the largest group of scenic lakes in the rocky uplands of Southern Ontario located 200 to 240 km north of Toronto and 20 km east of Georgian Bay. Its drainage basin receives somewhere between 30 & 40 kg of sulfate from acid precipitation. And since the alkalinity of the lake is low, it has been placed in the moderate risk class with regard to its potential for lake acidification.
